Central Region Industrial Cluster To Boost Negeri Sembilan’s Economy

12/11/2025 04:46 PM

SEREMBAN, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The development of the Central Region Industrial Cluster, which encompasses Negeri Sembilan, is expected to further strengthen the industrial sector and spur the state’s economic growth.

Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the initiative will also open up more investment opportunities and enhance competitiveness, positioning Negeri Sembilan as one of the leading investment destinations in the region.

“We are thankful to be in a new (economic) corridor. Kuala Lumpur has long been the nation’s capital, while Selangor has been a key industrial hub.

“Negeri Sembilan and Melaka, however, have been somewhat lagging behind, so this cluster gives us the advantage to continue developing our industrial areas,” he told reporters after chairing the state executive council meeting here today.

Yesterday, Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the initiative is expected to strengthen the national ecosystem by enhancing supply chains and supporting the growth of local enterprises.

He noted that the Central Region—which comprises Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka—already has a well-established network in terms of suppliers, logistics, testing laboratories, higher learning institutions and innovation partners.

Aminuddin also hopes that the federal government will consider allocating funds to ensure development plans -- particularly in terms of connectivity and infrastructure across the four states -- can be implemented more systematically and comprehensively.

“We want to see about 16,000 square kilometres involving the four states developed. If this can be carried out promptly, it will accelerate national growth since the Central Region contributes nearly 50 per cent to Malaysia’s gross domestic product,” he said.
