KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Kioxia Corporation announced the development of an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven image recognition technology that automatically identifies products within logistics operations, created in collaboration with Tsubakimoto Chain Co (Tsubakimoto Chain) and EAGLYS Inc (EAGLYS).
In a statement, Kioxia said the system is designed to boost automation, reduce operational strain, and improve agility as product lines expand and market needs shift.
The solution is powered by KIOXIA AiSAQ and the company’s Memory-Centric AI technology, enabling scalable AI adoption in logistics environments that handle an ever-growing variety of items.
E-commerce growth continues to push more diverse and higher-volume products into logistics networks, while persistent labour shortages increase demand for automation.
Conventional image recognition models typically require extensive parameter adjustments and retraining whenever new or seasonal products emerge, driving up energy use, operational costs, and deployment complexity.
KIOXIA’s AiSAQ software, combined with its Memory-Centric AI technology, addresses these challenges by storing comprehensive new product data—including images, labels, and feature information—in high-capacity storage.
This allows new product types to be added quickly without retraining the base model. To avoid longer search times as data volume grows, the technology indexes stored data and transfers the indexed information to solid-state drives (SSDs) for faster retrieval.
The jointly developed technology will be showcased at the 2025 International Robot Exhibition, held Dec 3 to 6 at Tokyo Big Sight (Tsubakimoto Chain Booth). Visitors will see the image recognition system classify products in real time as they move along a conveyor, referencing stored features and labels to deliver fast, accurate identification.
The demonstration shows how logistics sites can manage a wide and continually changing range of products with greater accuracy and efficiency.
