KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) made an official visit to the Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) on Dec 8, 2025 to strengthen good relations and foster closer ties between the ministry and the media.
MITI secretary-general Datuk Hairil Yahri Yaacob led the ministry’s delegation, with director of the Malaysia Secretariat for Expo 2025 Osaka, Nor Haslynda Wan Rahim, MITI head of strategic communications, Nor Sheila Fatin Shaik Annuar Pasha, and several senior MITI officials.
They were received by Bernama chief executive officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, editor-in-chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj, and representatives from Bernama TV and radio.
Nur-ul Afida said the visit was an honour for Bernama and, at the same time, symbolised MITI’s close relationship and trust in Bernama’s role as the nation’s official media agency. “Indeed, the cooperation between Bernama and MITI not only involves news coverage, but also encompasses shared responsibility in delivering information on national policies to the people accurately, promptly, and with integrity,” she said during the meeting.
At the same time, Nur-ul Afida emphasised that every announcement, policy, and initiative by MITI has a direct impact on investor confidence, job opportunities, the competitiveness of local industries, and the well-being of society. “Therefore, it is Bernama’s commitment to ensure that every important piece of information disseminated by MITI is conveyed accurately to all,” she added.
During the visit, which took place at Wisma BERNAMA, MITI and Bernama also exchanged views on the current media landscape as well as strategic cooperation between the two organisations in delivering the latest information on the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART), the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), and other policies.
