OP GLOBAL: CHRONOLOGY OF GISBH CASE AS OF SEPT 27

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 25 (Bernama) -- The Op Global implemented to combat child exploitation activities and allegations of religious fanaticism linked to GlSB Holdings Sdn Bhd (GISBH) has now entered phase four.

Since the first phase of Op Global, which started at the beginning of September, over 300 individuals, including the top management of GISBH, were arrested, 572 victims were rescued, and seven suspects were charged in court with 29 charges.

Here is the updated chronology of the case from Sept 26-27, 2024: 

 

Sept 26

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the police is proposing to search and seize GISBH-related premises in Sabah and Sarawak after finding they were no longer in operation and that they were working with related agencies to do so.

Meanwhile the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) issued compounds totalling RM4.4 million to 12 GISBH-linked companies recently, with its minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali stating that the compounds were issued after a Companies Commission of Malaysia’s report revealed they did not submit their annual statements and financial statements.

In Selangor, a religious teacher was sentenced to 10 years jail by a Sessions Court here for abusing three boys by caning them and pressing his knee down on one of the boy’s chest at two GISBH-linked schools.

In Kelantan, Kelantan Mufti Datuk Mohamad Shukri Mohamad aid the department does not want to hastily issue a fatwa on GISBH and was still gathering evidence before issuing any fatwa regarding the organisation's beliefs and practices, while the Kota Bharu Municipal Council-Islamic City (MPKB-BRI) confirmed that 19 GISBH business outlets in the state capital were no longer in operation.

Meanwhile, a headmaster of an integrated school in Pasir Puteh was remanded for five days starting today to assist into a GISBH-related case.

In Negeri Sembilan, the Seremban Syariah Lower Court approved a bail bond application by the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Affairs Department (JHEAINS) against the principal and deputy principal of a madrasah in Rembau to facilitate investigations into an attempt to revive the teachings of Aurad Muhammadiah.

 

Sept 27

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the police were tracking financial transactions and assets belonging to GlSBH in the country, and that a vital individual managing GISBH funds was arrested in Butterworth, Penang last Saturday.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim issued a statement announcing that the government woluld continue to ensure that the police investigation into GISBH remains transparent, while 543 children rescued under Op Global would be provided counselling and education.

In Kelantan, the Kota Bharu Magistrate’s Court extended the remand of four individuals for three days to faciliate investigations into the GISBH case.

In Perak, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad was reported to seek an audience with Perak Sultan, Sultan Nazrin Shah to present a full report on GISBH activities in the state.

In Pahang, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail said the state government would leave it up to the authorities to handle enforcement actions and investigations against GISBH-related individuals and premises in the state.
