SHAH ALAM, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) are working with the Indonesian police (Polri) as their strategic partner to complete investigations into an Indonesian football player who uploaded a video on social media containing allegations against a police motorcycle patrol unit (URB).

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said that they would use the services of a PDRM attache at the Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta to record a statement from the player, adding that they have taken statements from the police personnel involved and their teammates and that an investigation paper has been opened.

“Unfortunately, the statement from the party alleging to be a footballer could not be obtained as he has returned to his country of origin.

“So, we might use a PDRM attache at the Malaysian Embassy in Indonesia to assist in recording their statement,” he said at a media conference at the Selangor contingent police headquarters here today, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 504 of the Penal Code.

The viral video contained allegations made by the Indonesian footballer that certain members of the URB team had solicited bribes during a vehicle check.

In other developments, Shazeli said 14 individuals - 11 men and three women - were arrested as of yesterday following a police report lodged over their actions during the eviction and demolition work conducted in a housing area in Kampung Papan, Pandamaran in Klang near here.

"No residents were involved. The majority arrested were from non-governmental organisations, and all of them were released on police bail after preliminary investigations were conducted,” he said, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 186 of the Penal Code.

The stiuation during the demolition work had grown tense when certain individuals claiming to be residents acted aggressively to protest the work.
