MIRI TOWN COMES ALIVE WITH MADANI RAKYAT SARAWAKKU SAYANG PROGRAMME

27/09/2024 09:08 PM

MIRI, Sept 27 (Bernama) -- The town of Miri has come alive thanks to the activities of the MADANI Rakyat Sarawakku Sayang programme at the grounds of a shopping complex here today.

E-hailing driver Yong Foo Yung shared that traffic in the town, famed for its oil and gas industry, had increased since the programme began.

“The route to the location (of the programme) is getting busy and since this morning there have been several passengers asking me to send them to the Boulevard,” he told Bernama today.

Several visitors to the programme also told Bernama that it allowed them to view the exhibitions by various government and private agencies and participate in various interesting activities.

Visitor Nurul Nadirah Armandi said that for youths like her, the programme would not just provide them with the chance of getting information on job vacancies but also information on services provided by various government agencies.

“This is good exposure as it allows us to look for jobs, and this programme is a place for me to learn more about the functions of government departments,” she said.

The police traffic summonses payment counter was one of the most popular booths at the programme, with people queuing up as early as 9 am today.

One of those people was Amirul Syafiq Ahmad, who admitted that he did not want to miss out on the 50 per cent discount on traffic summonses.

“The payment process is also fast and this makes it very convenient for people to settle their summonses,” he added.

The programme is organised by the Prime Minister’s Department, with strategic partnership from the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Ministry (PETRA) as the lead ministry and the Sarawak government as host.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is scheduled to officiate the programme tomorrow evening at a ceremony that will be attended by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof and Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
