KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 5 (Bernama) -- CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) has allocated RM2 million to provide essential aid to flood-affected communities nationwide.
In a statement, CelcomDigi said the aid included personal and household supplies, Internet connectivity at relief centres, and various other recovery assistance to benefit nearly 7,000 families.
The company is collaborating with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) to expedite the delivery of aid to affected residents.
“In addition, CelcomDigi is providing four-wheel-drive vehicles, rescue boats, and volunteers to MRA, as well as essential equipment such as portable charging stations, water and jet pumps, cooking sets, and generators.
“All these items are being sent to severely affected areas to assist stranded families,” the statement said.
Other initiatives include providing WiFi connectivity through Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) units to 200 flood relief centres.
The company is also taking proactive measures to strengthen network sites and structures in flood-prone areas to safeguard radio and electronic equipment.
Operations teams remain on 24-hour standby to deploy power generators and mobile transmission units to affected areas.
CelcomDigi has issued over 200 flash-SMS alerts and vital information to more than 2.5 million people in flood-risk areas in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA). It has also published flood safety and management kits in Malay and English.
“These kits include essential safety guidelines to raise awareness about recommended actions before, during, and after floods, available through CelcomDigi’s social media platforms and the Celcom Life and MyDigi apps,” it said.
CelcomDigi is committed to ensuring smooth services for customers in affected zones to stay connected and that business partners and distributors can continue operations with minimal disruptions.
The company said it would continue its close collaboration with the government, industry, and relief agencies to expand reach and assist as many affected families as possible.
