SHAH ALAM, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- The fourth Selangor Aviation Show (SAS2024) soared to new heights, drawing a record-breaking 29,638 visitors to surpass the targeted 25,000, which is a substantial leap from 19,217 visitors recorded last year.
SAS2024 continued its ascent with extraordinary success, recording RM3.2 billion in potential transaction value, which is the largest in SAS history and highlights the event’s pivotal role in shaping the future of the aerospace industry.
The three-day event, held at Sky Park RAC in Bukit Jelutong, near here from Sept 12, exceeded all expectations and its growing influence highlights Selangor’s efforts to establish itself as a key regional trade hub in ASEAN in the aerospace and aviation industries.
According to Invest Selangor, SAS has quickly become a premier platform for innovation, collaboration and trade in the aerospace and aviation sectors, bridging diverse sectors such as lifestyle, talent development and cutting-edge technologies, reinforcing its role as a catalyst for progress in the region.
The event featured 129 exhibitors from 39 countries, showcasing cutting-edge products and services in the aerospace and aviation industries, including 31 Malaysian-owned planes, where the Falcon 8X, Dornier 228, Honda HA420 HondaJet and Diamond aircraft series were among the highlights.
"A key achievement of SAS2024 was the signing of 41 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs), nearly doubling the 28 agreements from SAS2023.
These agreements reflect collaborations between local companies and international entities from Singapore, China, the Czech Republic and Thailand, underscoring the event’s growing global reach," it added.
These MOUs spanned various strategic areas, including the development of the Selangor Aero Park, advancements in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), electric aviation, workforce training, aerospace research and expanded Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) capabilities.
Organised by the Selangor government through Invest Selangor, SAS2024 demonstrated a commitment to nurturing the next generation of aviation talent, with the success of these events emphasising Selangor’s role as the Gateway to ASEAN, attracting businesses from local, regional and international markets to explore the potential market in the aerospace industry.
Moving forward, SAS will continue to play a pivotal role in the aerospace and aviation ecosystem, including Invest Selangor, to explore new locations for the fifth edition of the show to better serve its audience, and to expand its focus to include a diverse landscape ecosystem.
"Key segments will encompass MRO, Business Aviation and Commercial, sports aviation, search and rescue operations, drones, helicopters, space development and supporting services such as F&B, talent development and airport operations," Invest Selangor said.
