PAYNET LAUNCHES PDC4.0 TO BOOST CASHLESS CULTURE IN UNIVERSITIES

28/02/2025 01:06 AM

PUTRAJAYA, Feb 27 (Bernama) -- Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) has launched PayNet Digital Campus 4.0 (PDC4.0) for higher education institutions (IPTs) with at least 3,000 students, in an effort to accelerate digital transformation and strengthen the cashless payment culture.

PayNet group chief executive officer Farhan Ahmad said the launch of PDC4.0 marked the company’s continued efforts to establish a more comprehensive digital payment ecosystem in Malaysia.

“By promoting cashless campuses, we are not only preparing students for a digital future but also enhancing financial inclusion.

“PayNet is equipping students with digital financial literacy to ensure that all students, regardless of background, can participate in and benefit from Malaysia’s rapidly growing digital economy,” he said in a statement today.

PDC4.0 was announced at the ‘PayNet Digital Campus 2025 Summit’ held here today.

The programme retains the “Shark Tank” format introduced in previous editions, requiring IPT student representative councils to present their campaigns to secure funding for promoting digital payments on their campuses.

PayNet also announced that PayNet Digital Campus 3.0 (PDC3.0) set a new record by generating 24 million transactions across 30 IPTs nationwide.

The company channelled sponsorship funds totalling RM1.02 million to IPTs participating in PDC3.0 to run digital payment initiatives on their campuses from August to September last year.

Meanwhile, Higher Education director-general Prof Datuk Dr Azlinda Azman said the success of PayNet’s initiative underlined the vital role of IPTs in driving the nation’s digital transformation.

“This initiative aligns with the country’s commitment in integrating technology into the education sector, as well as the Malaysia Digital Economy Blueprint, which envisions a nation empowered by seamless digital transactions,” she said.

At the same time, Azlinda also encouraged more universities to join PDC4.0 to accelerate the transition towards a more digitally inclusive Malaysia.
