KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- The 28th Beijing Academic Exchange Month of Science and Technology opened last month, featuring more than 140 academic events in cutting-edge fields including artificial intelligence (AI), medicine and health, urban development, and green energy.

Organised under the guidance of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology (BAST), the month-long programme aims to promote academic empowerment and innovation leadership while strengthening collaboration among universities, research institutions, and international scientific bodies.

A major highlight of the opening was the fifth International Conference on Data-Driven Computing and Machine Learning in Engineering (DACOMA-25), which took place from Oct 10 to 12, according to a statement.

The conference was guided by BAST and jointly hosted by the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, the Beijing Society of Mechanics, and Tsinghua University, with support from over 10 domestic and international institutions, including Peking University and Tongji University.

Launched in 2019, DACOMA has become a leading platform for promoting data-driven intelligent computing and interdisciplinary innovation.

Themed “Data-Driven & AI-Powered Engineering Innovation”, this year’s conference featured 67 presentations, comprising eight plenary sessions and 59 invited talks.

More than 250 participants from prominent universities and research organisations took part, showcasing the latest developments at the intersection of data, modelling, and engineering applications.

Moving forward, BAST will continue to support academic societies, strengthen partnerships with domestic and international stakeholders, and assist Beijing-based universities in consolidating resources for scientific and technological innovation.
