12/11/2025 04:14 PM

IPOH, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- Twenty-one roads in Kuala Kangsar will be closed or diverted to facilitate the 2025 Sultan Nazrin Shah Birthday Run (LHKSNS) this Saturday and Sunday.

Kuala Kangsar police chief ACP Heisham Harun announced that the closures will be implemented in stages from 10.00 pm on Nov 15 until noon Nov 16 for the 7km, 10km and 15km running events. Fifteen roads will be fully closed, while six others will be diverted.

The first phase of the traffic plan will be in effect from 10.00 pm, Nov 15, until noon Nov 16, affecting roads around Pavilion/Dewan Jubli Kuala Kangsar, including the junctions of Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan MCKK, Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Daeng Selili, the Bendahara traffic lights/Jalan Persiaran Bendahara, the Jalan MCKK/Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah junction (near the Replika Tepak Sirih), and sections of Jalan Raja Chulan (in front of the Kuala Kangsar religious department and Kelab Idris).

A second, more extensive set of closures will be in place on Nov 16 from 6.00 am until noon. This involves Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah (Jalan Taiping) from the Replika Tepak Sirih to Bulatan Jam, Jalan Daeng Selili (from Bulatan Jam to the Penaga traffic lights), Jalan Raja Chulan (from the IPD junction to the BHP petrol station) and the junction of Jalan Tun Razak/Jalan Daeng Selili.

These road closures will also affect both sides of the road from the Penaga traffic lights to the Sayong traffic lights (Jambatan Sultan Abdul Jalil, junction of Jalan Kledang Sayong to Tanjong Belanja (Taman Kelisa junction), Jalan Istana from Bulatan Jam to the Bukit Kerajaan junction and the road from Taman Kelisa junction to the Sayong traffic lights.

Heisham said the diversions will involve routes from Taiping, Gerik, or the Kuala Kangsar Toll towards Sungai Siput, which will be diverted via Jalan Raja Idris (near the Kuala Kangsar Hospital traffic lights) onto the Ipoh-Taiping road (Kota Lama Kiri / near the Kuala Kangsar JPJ Station), and vice versa.

Traffic from Taiping, Gerik, or the Kuala Kangsar Toll heading to Pekan Kuala Kangsar will be diverted from Jalan Sultan Nazrin Shah onto Jalan Juragan Abd Shukor (at the Tepak Sirih replica) and Jalan Dato Sagor.

Vehicles from Jalan Kangsar (Labu Sayong roundabout) heading to Bulatan Jam will be diverted at Simpang Pasar Lama and Simpang Arked Mara.

Furthermore, vehicles from Beruas or Manong going to Taiping, Gerik, or the Kuala Kangsar Toll will be diverted to Jalan Dato Sagor, while traffic from Bukit Chandan will be diverted at the Bukit Kerajaan junction, and vehicles from Bukit Kerajaan will be diverted towards Highland Park.

“In light of this, motorists, especially Kuala Kangsar residents, are advised to plan their journeys and use alternative routes to avoid being caught in traffic congestion during the road closures and diversions,” he said.
