PERAK TO TABLE 2026 BUDGET AT STATE ASSEMBLY SITTING WHICH BEGINS NOV 25

12/11/2025 05:45 PM

IPOH, Nov 12 (Bernama) -- Perak will table its 2026 Budget during the State Assembly sitting scheduled to be held from Nov 25 to Dec 2.

Perak State Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid said the budget would focus on the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan, which emphasises the well-being of the state and its people.

He said the budget, to be tabled by Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, would allow all state assemblymen to participate in the debate session.

“The debate time allocated for government backbenchers and the opposition leader is 45 minutes each, while other assemblymen will be given 20 minutes each.

“The debate session is scheduled to begin on the second day of the sitting, on Nov 26,” he told reporters at a press conference at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building here today.

Mohammad Zahir said three motions would be tabled to appoint members of the Select Committees, including the Standing Orders Committee, the Privileges and Freedom Committee, and the Members’ Welfare Committee.

In another development, he said Gunung Semanggol assemblyman Razman Zakaria would remain as Opposition Leader after his six-month suspension ended in October.

He said Razman’s suspension should serve as a lesson to all assemblymen to maintain decorum and discipline during sittings.

“The purpose of being in the assembly is to carry out administrative matters, pass laws, and debate policies in a courteous manner.

“Although members of the assembly have immunity, it does not mean they are free from action if they go beyond limits,” he said.

Razman was previosuly suspended from attending the sitting after being found to have made a false statement regarding the hoisting of China’s national flag at Menara Teluk Intan during the International Guan Gong Cultural Faestival in October last year.
