UITM LAUNCHES NEW STRATEGIC DIRECTION TO DRIVE BUMIPUTERA PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

13/11/2025 07:13 PM

SHAH ALAM, Nov 13 (Bernama) -- Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) today unveiled a new vision, mission and set of objectives, aimed at reinforcing the university’s role in producing competitive and morally upright Bumiputera professionals.

UiTM vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Shahrin Sahib @ Sahibuddin said the university’s new vision, “Universiti Unggul Pemacu Bumiputera Profesional”, was crafted to drive national progress through quality education, high-impact research and the nurturing of future talents.

He said that in terms of its mission, UiTM would focus on shaping well-rounded individuals through three key thrusts, namely knowledge, manners and expertise, with the aim of producing graduates who are forward-thinking, creative, innovative and possess a strong entrepreneurial spirit.

“Changes in technology, society and the economy require UiTM to re-evaluate the university’s mission and philosophy to remain relevant to current needs.

“We at UiTM want to ensure that the founding purpose of the university, established in 1956, continues to be strengthened. While the trust remains the same, our approach must evolve with the times. As times change, we at UiTM must keep pace with them,” he told Bernama after the launching ceremony of UiTM’s new vision, mission and objectives here today.

The launching ceremony was officiated by UiTM Board of Directors chairman Tan Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil and witnessed by the university’s senior leadership, academics, alumni, and industry representatives.

According to Shahrin, the new vision, mission and objectives were formulated after more than a year of management engagement, aimed at ensuring that the university’s direction meets the needs and challenges of the post-normal era.

He said the launch of the new direction marked the first step towards implementing the UiTM Strategic Plan 2026–2030, which would replace the existing plan and establish new targets based on an analysis and current assessment of the university’s achievements.

“UiTM wants to ensure that this new strategic plan will not only serve as a guide until 2030 but also drive the university’s direction ahead of its 70th anniversary next year.

“We do not only evaluate inputs and processes but focus on the real impact on students, society and the country. The main thrust of UiTM remains on knowledge, manners and expertise, grounded in nurturing, education and training,” he said.

Shahrin also said that UiTM had introduced 10 strategic objectives, including inclusive access to education, curriculum development, institutional advancement, enhancing graduate marketability, and high-impact research.

He said that UiTM would also focus on global strategic networking, holistic human development, integrity-driven governance, and financial and organisational sustainability.
