MELAKA, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Three key project components under the MADANI Village Adoption Programme by the Agriculture Department in Kampung Padang here have been completed, enhancing basic facilities and improving the well-being of local residents.
Agriculture Director-General Datuk Nor Sam Alwi said RM923,900 was allocated for the projects, targeting villages with basic amenities coverage below 50 per cent.
“For the first project, the department completed the procurement of a hearse worth RM168,700 on Oct 22, which involved a factory-level compliance inspection to ensure all quality, safety and technical specifications were met before handing it over to the village,” he said in a statement today.
He added that the second project, involving the construction of an open hall costing RM620,350, was fully completed on Nov 17.
He said the hall provides a more organised, inclusive and functional community centre for the benefit of local residents.
“The third project involves upgrading and maintaining a mosque’s toilets at a cost of RM134,850, which was also completed on Nov 17. This upgrade provides more comfortable facilities and ensures better cleanliness for worshippers and visitors,” he said.
He added that the MADANI Village Adoption Programme is an initiative announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim under Budget 2024 and strengthened through the Public Service Reform Agenda (ARPA).
The programme’s implementation involves the Ministry of Finance as the lead agency, the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department as the monitoring body, and collaboration with contractors and village leaders.
“The strong commitment from all parties has ensured the successful completion of these projects in the village,” he said.
