SHAH ALAM, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- The Selangor Entrepreneur Expo 2025 (SELBIZ 2025), organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS), aims to achieve RM1 million in sales and draw more than 25,000 visitors during its three-day run at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC).
State Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi said the fourth edition of the expo, which began yesterday, was attracting growing interest from both entrepreneurs and the public, with more than 100 exhibitors offering a diverse range of products across manufacturing, retail, and services.
He said that with the theme “Usahawan Cekap Digital”, SELBIZ 2025 served as an ideal platform for MSMEs to demonstrate their business potential while strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem through the use of cutting-edge technology to boost sales.
“SELBIZ is the largest entrepreneurship expo in Selangor and should be leveraged by entrepreneurs to build, strengthen, and expand their business networks.
“Participating entrepreneurs should also seize this opportunity to embrace digital technology and social media to position their businesses for a wider market,” he said when officiating SELBIZ 2025 here today.
Present were PKNS Group chief executive officer Datuk Mahmud Abbas and PKNS enterpreneur development manager Yuzawati Yusof.
Meanwhile, Mohd Najwan said that, overall, nearly 90 per cent of MSME entrepreneurs in the state had adopted or were already using online or cashless transaction methods in their business operations.
He added that to ensure the entire MSME entrepreneurial ecosystem was aware of, and fully transitioned to, online transactions, the state government had allocated RM1 million for training programmes on the use of technology in business next year.
“Most of the training in the past focused on how to start a business and register the necessary licences, which most entrepreneurs are now familiar with.
“That is why we are collaborating with external agencies, including the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), to empower our entrepreneurs through technology-based training to promote and grow their businesses,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mahmud expressed confidence that SELBIZ 2025, with its more diverse offerings, had the potential to attract a large number of visitors, particularly from Shah Alam.
He believed the expo could serve as a catalyst for enhancing the competitiveness of local entrepreneurs, thereby contributing significantly to Selangor’s economic growth.
“After three editions, SELBIZ has recorded sales transactions of around RM10 million. With a range of engaging activities this year, we are confident that the targeted RM1 million in sales for this edition can be achieved,” he said.
SELBIZ serves as PKNS’s primary platform through the Entrepreneur Development Division (BPU) to strengthen Selangor’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. It also provides entrepreneurs with opportunities to penetrate markets, expand their business capacity, and build networks with customers and strategic partners.
In addition to business activities, SELBIZ 2025 features a range of family-oriented programmes, including the SELBIZ Family Fun Run, an e-sports competition, a children’s zone, and over 200 lucky draws throughout the expo.
Other attractions include the SELBIZ Gempak Concert, showcasing popular local artistes, while visitors can also enjoy special performances by popular animated mascots such as Didi and Friends and Umar and Hana.
