The launching on Dec 1, is part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's aspiration to develop an education that is inclusive, fair and based on the needs of the local community.

MITRA, through a Facebook post, announced that the adoption school programme brings together federal ministries, government agencies, government-linked companies and government-linked investment companies, public universities and the private sector to strengthen Tamil schools nationwide.

“In line with the Prime Minister’s aspiration to ensure fair, inclusive and community-oriented education, MITRA through the MADANI Adopted School initiative has selected SJKT Ladang West Country Barat as the official adopted school.

“This selection coincides with MITRA’s mandate to strengthen Tamil schools as drivers of social mobility for the Indian community,” said MITRA.

As an initial step, the Ministry of Finance has allocated RM100,000 for the implementation of a comprehensive development programmes at the school, which is under the administration of the Sepang District Education Office.

The allocation focuses on the main scope of implementation including improving infrastructure and learning facilities, strengthening digital literacy and the use of technology in teaching and learning (T&L).

It is also for the implementation of programmes to improve student motivation, character and well-being as well as targeted academic interventions to improve student performance.

According to MITRA, mastery of technology and digitalisation is a basic requirement to ensure that students do not fall behind in today’s learning environment, hence MITRA is placing special emphasis on digital support as an important component in the improvement of Tamil schools.

“MITRA believes that with the leadership of the Prime Minister, the commitment of the education agency and the concern of the local community, Tamil schools can continue to be strengthened as excellent, progressive and inclusive educational institutions,” said MITRA.
