02/12/2025 06:38 PM

KUANTAN, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRM) Pahang branch has urged the state government leadership to integrate integrity as a fundamental aspect of all policies, projects, and administrative decisions.

Its director, Mohd Shukor Mahmud, said government officers must carry out their duties with trust, avoid conflicts of interest, and ensure that every action complies with the law and ethical guidelines.

“Strengthen auditing systems, internal controls, and governance to prevent corruption. Be the bold voice that rejects the culture of corruption and instill integrity in everyday life.

“Integrity is the most valuable legacy, while corruption is the enemy of progress, and we are all the nation's first line of defence against this threat, " he said during the Integrity Day and International Anti-Corruption Day 2025 celebration here today, which was officiated by State Secretary, Datuk Seri Nazri Abu Bakar, on behalf of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.

Mohd Shukor further noted that Pahang has demonstrated a strong commitment to good governance, particularly through the expansion of integrity education programmes across state departments, the strengthening of the Integrity and Governance Committee, and efforts to enhance transparency in government procurement processes.

Meanwhile, Nazri highlighted that the Pahang State Secretary’s Integrity Unit had successfully implemented 15 integrity strengthening programmes throughout 2025, including today’s event.

"This effort reflects the state government's determination to ensure efficient, transparent administration free from abuse of power," he said in his speech.

International Anti-Corruption Day, celebrated globally on Dec 9, serves as a symbol of global solidarity in the fight against corruption. Integrity Day, on the other hand, plays a role in reinforcing a culture of clean, trustworthy, and accountable work practices.
