02/12/2025 07:05 PM

SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 (Bernama) -- Universiti Islam Selangor (UIS) has been appointed as a research panel for the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) with the allocation of a RM120,000 research grant.

MAIS, in a statement, said that the grant is intended to strengthen strategic research collaboration between the council and UIS, covering areas such as research implementation, publications, shared facilities and the promotion of activities within UIS’ fields of expertise.

MAIS expressed hope that the findings from the studies will assist the agency in identifying issues related to Islamic affairs in Selangor and serve as a reference for strengthening research management within the council.

The research grant was presented at the closing ceremony of the Selangor Islamic Research Symposium 2025 here today, which was officiated by MAIS secretary Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini.

It also noted that it has successfully produced 46 research studies related to Islamic affairs in Selangor from 2019 to date.

According to MAIS, the studies cover several key areas for the benefit of the ummah, focusing on social and economic issues in Selangor, with research scopes encompassing aqidah, syariah, da’wah, family law, as well as governance and muamalat.

“Through these studies, MAIS has become a one-stop centre to coordinate and supervise all research undertaken by Selangor Islamic affairs departments, agencies and MAIS subsidiaries,” it said.

MAIS added that the studies also involve collaboration with various public and private higher learning institutions appointed as research partners, including Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), Multimedia University (MMU), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM).

All published research findings, compiled in the Intifadah Journal, can be downloaded via the official MAIS website at www.mais.gov.my.
