PUTRAJAYA, Dec 7 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today called on civil servants to deliver stronger performance than previously recorded to ensure the people receive optimal benefits from government services.
To support this goal, he instructed Chief Secretary to the Government (KSN) Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar and Public Service Director-General (KPPA) Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz to closely monitor the performance of civil servants nationwide,
He said the call for improved performance is timely in line with the adjustments under the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA).
“I have instructed the KSN, KPPA and, in particular, the Treasury Secretary-General Datuk Johan Mahmood Merican to ensure the performance of civil servants surpasses what we have previously recorded,” he said at the closing ceremony of the MADANI Bersama Malaysiaku Programme here today.
Anwar said the MADANI government remains committed to the welfare of civil servants, which prompted the implementation of the SSPA.
In August 2024, the Prime Minister, in his address at the 19th edition of Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA), said that retirees and recipients of derivative pensions would receive pension adjustments equal to the percentage increase enjoyed by active civil servants, to be implemented in two phases.
The prime minister announced that officers in the Implementing, Management and Professional groups who chose the SSPA scheme would receive a salary adjustment of 15 per cent in phases, namely eight per cent for Phase 1 in December 2024, and seven per cent for Phase 2 in January 2026.
