KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 13 (Bernama) -- Terengganu has completely recovered fom the flood situation when the last temporary evacuation centre (PPS) in Kemaman was closed at 2.30pm today, while the number of flood evacuees in Perak, Pahang and Johor remained unchanged as of this afternoon.
In PERAK, the number of evacuees slightly dropped to 186 evacuees from 57 families who were housed at the Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Beruas PPS in the Manjung district, compared to 220 evacuees this morning.
The State Disaster Management Committee (JBPN) secretariat in a statement said that the SK Teluk Kepayang PPS in the Perak Tengah district, which houses 34 evacuees from 11 families, was completely closed at 3pm today.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department also informed that several areas in the state are forecast to experience thunderstorms or heavy rain until 6pm involving the districts of Kinta, Manjung, Batang Padang, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak and Muallim.
Meanwhile, the water level of Sungai Rui at the Perak Highway Bridge (RHN) and Sungai Bidor in Changkat Jong is at the warning level.
In PAHANG, the number of evacuees increased slightly to 58 people housed at four relief centres this afternoon compared to 48 people this morning involving two affected districts, namely Bera and Maran.
According to the Social Welfare Department's (JKM) InfoBencana application, a total of 47 people are at three relief centres in Bera, namely Sekolah Kebangsaan Bukit Gemuruh, Kampung Seberang Guai Community Hall and Kampung Mengkarak Mosque, while 11 other evacuees are at the Kampung Pertanian Community Hall, Maran.
In JOHOR the flood situation remained unchanged with Segamat registering 85 people from 26 families as of 4pm, the same as this morning.
Johor JBPN chairman Tan Sri Dr Azmi Rohani said 85 evacuees were housed at two relief centres, namely the Kampung Batu Badak Community Hall with 40 evacuees from 12 families, and the Kampung Tasek Community Hall with 45 evacuees from 14 families.
However, Sungai Muar in Buloh Kasap, Segamat, recorded a reading at the warning level with 8.80 metres above the normal level of 7.30 metres.
