KOTA KINABALU, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Voter turnout in the 17th Sabah State Election reached 60.94 percent as of 4.00 pm today, with 1.06 million of the 1.74 million eligible voters having cast their ballots.
According to the Election Commission (EC), during the last polls in 2020, voter turnout for the same timeframe was 62.0 percent, or 685,300 people, with final voter turnout being 66.61 percent.
The final percentage will only be announced once the full results of the polls are obtained tonight.
At a press conference in Papar this morning, EC chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said that the commission was maintaining its initial projection of approximately 60 percent turnout, citing the risk of heavy rain.
However, weather conditions in most areas were favourable this afternoon. A total of 73 seats are being contested in the state election.
