LUNDU (Sarawak), Dec 7 (Bernama) -- The KASIH Kanak-Kanak programme, implemented by the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM), has been recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest child protection advocacy programme, with participation from 128,148 children nationwide.

Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri said the programme was carried out through the Department of Child Development and the Department of Social Welfare in 564 schools and 46 children activity centres nationwide, benefiting 71,213 children.

“In Sarawak, the programme was conducted in 71 schools and eight activity centres, directly reaching 14,895 participants.

“The initiative also encourages the community to act as the ‘eyes and ears’ of society by reporting child abuse cases through the Talian Kasih 15999 helpline, ensuring every child can grow up in a safer environment,” she said when closing the Children’s Day Carnival in Kampung Sempadi here today.

The Santubong MP added that on Nov 18, the ministry launched the National Action Plan on Child's Policy (2026-2030), which outlines 141 actions under four policy objectives and strategic priorities to strengthen child protection and development.

“Through the 2025 ASEAN ICT Forum on Child Online Protection, Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to regional efforts on child digital safety, in line with the ASEAN Digital Masterplan 2025.

“The children here today represent the nation’s future, and their voices reflect the hopes of a more caring and progressive Malaysia,” she said.

At the event, Nancy also announced that RM500,000 has been allocated for the upgrading of rural access road (JPD) project on Jalan Sampadi, which is currently underway, while another upgrade near a mosque has been completed with an allocation of RM320,000.
