KOTA KINABALU, Dec 9 (Bernama) -- Sabah State Legislative Assembly Speaker Datuk Seri Kadzim M Yahya today submitted a notice on the vacancy of the Lamag state seat to the Election Commission (EC).
In a statement today, Kadzim said the seat fell vacant after its incumbent, Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, died last Friday.
He said the notice was issued in accordance with Article 21(5) of the Sabah Constitution.
“On behalf of the Sabah State Legislative Assembly, I extend my condolences to Bung Moktar Radin’s family and pray that his soul be blessed and granted a place among the faithful,” he said.
Bung Moktar, 66, who was also the state Barisan Nasional chairman, died at a private hospital in Kota Kinabalu at 1.46 am.
He had retained the Lamag state seat in the 17th state polls on Nov 29.
