29/11/2025 10:44 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 29 (Bernama) -- Unofficial results of the 17th Sabah State Election as of 10.05 pm show that Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) has won 29 seats.

The Sabah State Legislative Assembly has 73 seats, and a simple majority of 37 seats is required to form the state government.

Parti Warisan has secured victory in 18 seats, while Barisan Nasional (BN) has won nine. Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) won two seats each, while United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) won one seat each.

Meanwhile, Independent candidates recorded victories in five seats.

The results also show Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor defending the Sulaman seat, Parti Warisan President Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal retaining Senallang, and UPKO president Datuk Ewon Benedick defending the Kadamaian seat.

At the same time, two political veterans — Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS) president Tan Sri Anifah Aman and former Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia — lost in Bongawan and Pintasan respectively.

In a surprising turn of events, DAP lost in all eight seats it contested.
