KPJ HEALTHCARE 3Q NET PROFIT STANDS AT RM86.02 MLN

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- KPJ Healthcare Bhd’s net profit for the third quarter ended Sept 30, 2024 (3Q 2024) stood at RM86.02 million compared with RM91.74 million posted in 3Q 2023.

Revenue however rose by 14 per cent to RM1.03 billion against RM906.89 million peviously, the group said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

In a separate statement, the healthcare provider said it achieved a historic milestone for the quarter under review, surpassing RM1 billion in revenue for the first time, driven by increased patient volumes and expanded bed capacity across its network.

The group’s earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) was RM253.7 million. Excluding a one-off gain of RM34.8 million from the disposal of its Indonesian operations in 3Q of financial year 2023 (FY2023), EBITDA grew 14 per cent, reflecting strong operational performance.

It said the group sustained strong operational momentum in 3Q FY2024, achieving a bed occupancy rate (BOR) of 72 per cent, with inpatient admissions rising by six per cent to 103,228, while outpatient visits increased to 784,437, reflecting KPJ’s continued commitment to providing accessible and effective healthcare services.

For the nine months of its financial year ending Dec 31, 2024 (9M FY2024), KPJ’s net profit increased to RM233.30 million from RM190.01 million, while revenue improved by 15 per cent to RM2.87 billion from RM2.50 billion in the corresponding period last year.

EBITDA also increased by seven per cent to RM687.3 million in 9M FY2024, reflecting sustained operational performance, it said.

The group has declared a fourth interim dividend of 1.15 sen per share for FY2024, totalling RM50.2 million, to be disbursed on Dec 27, 2024.

President and managing director Chin Keat Chyuan said achieving RM1 billion in quarterly revenue was a testament to the group’s ability to deliver high-quality, patient-centred healthcare while continually improving operational performance.

“We remain focused on delivering even greater value as we expand our services to meet the nation’s growing healthcare needs,” he said.

KPJ said it will continue to advance its sustainability initiatives, in addition to its financial achievements.

“Damansara Specialist Hospital 2 (DSH2) became the group's first hospital to achieve Green Building Index (GBI) certification, setting a benchmark for eco-friendly healthcare.

“KPJ Rawang’s rooftop solar photovoltaic system is expected to reduce carbon emissions equivalent to saving 3,000 trees annually, aligning with Malaysia’s broader environmental goals,” it said.

The group is focused on asset optimisation, bed expansion and talent acquisition to strengthen its operational capabilities.

“While addressing challenges such as cost pressures and a competitive talent market, KPJ Healthcare is committed to prudent financial management and delivering value to all stakeholders,” it said, adding it remains confident on its prospects for FY2024.
