MALAYSIA TO PARTICIPATE IN CAIRO MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON GAZA CRISIS

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 1 (Bernama) -- Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Mohamad Alamin will represent Malaysia at the Cairo Ministerial Conference to Enhance the Humanitarian Response in Gaza, themed “A Year Since the Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza: Urgent Needs, Lasting Solutions”, scheduled for Dec 2 in Cairo, Egypt.

The Foreign Ministry in a statement on Saturday said the conference, jointly hosted by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, will gather UN-member states, relevant UN agencies, international and regional organisations, and civil society groups to address the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza resulting from the ongoing military actions by the Zionist Israeli regime.

During the conference, Mohamad is expected to deliver Malaysia's national statement, underscoring the importance of global unity in ensuring unimpeded humanitarian access, calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire, and advocating for a resolution based on the recognition of a Palestinian state along pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Malaysia’s continued contributions and unwavering support for the Palestinian cause will also be highlighted, showcasing the country’s dedication to championing the rights and welfare of the Palestinian people.

The deputy minister's participation reaffirms Malaysia’s steadfast commitment to the Palestinian struggle and its collaboration with like-minded nations to achieve lasting peace and stability in the Middle East, added the statement.
