KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The Bulan Menabung Simpan SSPN (BMS) 2025 programme organised by the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) successfully collected RM222.29 million in deposits, surpassing its initial target of RM220 million.

PTPTN chairman Datuk Seri Norliza Abdul Rahim said the signature programme, now in its eighth year since 2018, aims to cultivate a savings culture among the public and promote Simpan SSPN as the preferred savings product.

“PTPTN remains optimistic that BMS 2025 deposits will continue to grow and achieve even stronger performance. This achievement is a source of pride and clearly demonstrates that BMS 2025 is a high-impact programme in encouraging a culture of saving among our community,” she said in her speech at the BMS 2025 closing ceremony here today.

Themed Pengembaraan (Adventures) and retaining the tagline Jom Jadi Superhero Anak Anda (Let’s Be Your Child’s Superhero), the programme ran from Sept 26 until tomorrow.

Norliza added that through Simpan SSPN, depositors have the opportunity to participate in the Cabutan WOW! Simpan SSPN 2025 campaign, which offers prizes totaling RM1.5 million to 550 winners from Jan 1 to Dec 31 this year.

Simpan SSPN provides numerous benefits, including income tax relief on savings of up to RM8,000 annually, takaful protection for depositors, matching grants of up to RM10,000 per eligible family, competitive dividend rates, Shariah compliance and government-guaranteed savings.

The BMS 2025 closing ceremony also saw the launch of the PTPTN Bank Islam Visa Debit-i Card, developed in collaboration with Bank Islam. The card allows users to earn cashback on domestic and international retail and online transactions.

Customers who save with Simpan SSPN and make PTPTN loan repayments using the card are also eligible for cashback, which can be transferred either to their Simpan SSPN accounts as savings or to their loan accounts as repayments.

At the event, various activities were held, including colouring contests and the Simpan SSPN Got Talent competition. PTPTN counters were also open to the public, offering special edition BMS savings boxes and exclusive souvenirs for those who made deposits in Simpan SSPN.

The winner of the Simpan SSPN Got Talent competition in the 10-12 age category, 11-year-old Putri Qayla Qaleesya Nur Firdaus, emphasised the importance of saving and using money wisely.

“When we save, we can buy important things. Don’t spend on things that aren’t useful. I plan to give my prize money to my mother and save the rest,” she said after winning RM150 for her singing performance of the song Gurindam Jiwa.

Visitor Kelly Chieng, 52, described BMS 2025 as a valuable programme for children’s future, adding that the event provided her with significant exposure and benefits.

“I have known about BMS for five years, but today I finally had the chance to open an account and enjoy many advantages, including tax relief and dividends,” she said.

Meanwhile, Anthony Ng Huey Cherng, 41, said the tax relief offered is highly worthwhile and stressed that saving is better than spending recklessly.
