FATHER AWAITING FIRST CHILD FATALLY SHOT IN THAILAND’S SUNGAI GOLOK

PASIR MAS, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The family of Mohd Fuad Fahmie Ghazali, 33, was left devastated after he was fatally shot outside his home in Sungai Golok, Thailand, just a month before the expected birth of his first child.

His mother, Zaiton Abdul Rahman, 64, said she was heartbroken upon learning of her son’s death and seeing his body returned from Narathiwat.

Mohd Fuad, who had travelled to Thailand to prepare for the birth of his first child, was laid to rest this afternoon at Kampung Apam Muslim Cemetery in Apam Putra here, following prayers at Masjid Kubur Besar.

Zaiton said her daughter-in-law, Wan Fatihah Mat Hussin, 35, informed her that her son was shot multiple times around 7 pm and rushed to Sungai Golok Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9 pm due to internal injuries.

“I do not know the exact motive, though my daughter-in-law said the suspect had borrowed money from him,” she told reporters here, urging Thai authorities to arrest the perpetrators.

Wan Fatihah recounted that two individuals arrived at their house while Mohd Fuad was installing a closed-circuit television (CCTV) and opened fire with two pistols, causing him to collapse.

"I immediately held him, but the assailants continued firing until their ammunition ran out before fleeing in a car," she told reporters at the cemetery.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the back and neck, with hospital reports confirming he was shot 18 times.

Kelantan police chief Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mamat confirmed the incident, stating that a Malaysian man had died in a shooting outside a house in Sungai Golok in Narathiwat, Thailand last night.
