PUTRAJAYA, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that immediate repairs will be carried out at three schools affected by recent fire incidents, according to a statement released today.
The schools involved are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Padang Melangit in Perlis, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Jalan 3 and Sekolah Berasrama Penuh Integrasi (SBPI) Sungai Lang, both in Selangor.
"Immediate steps have been taken to investigate the cause of the fires and assess the extent of the damage to the affected school infrastructure," the statement read.
The MOE also issued a reminder to all school administrators, district education offices, and state education departments to prioritise the safety of school facilities nationwide.
"The safety and well-being of students, teachers, and the entire school community must be given utmost priority," the statement added.
On Thursday, a building with eight classrooms at SK Padang Melangit, Padang Besar, was severely damaged, with nearly 90 per cent destroyed by the fire.
In another incident early this morning, fires destroyed the sports equipment store at SMK Jalan 3 in Bangi and the teacher’s room at SBPI Sungai Lang in Sabak Bernam.
