SHAH ALAM, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Selangor will begin providing a local authority tax rebate for residents who have eco-friendly technology facilities in their homes, starting next year.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said residents who install these facilities will enjoy up to 100 percent tax rebate for the assessment year 2026 by applying to their respective local authorities, and must go through a verification process.
He said each city council, namely, the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ), Shah Alam City Council, Subang Jaya City Council, and Klang Royal City Council, will allocate a tax exemption of RM1 million for the assessment year 2026.
"The other Municipal Councils will provide an allocation of RM200,000, while the Sabak Bernam District Council will allocate RM100,000," he said when tabling the Selangor Budget 2026 at the state assembly here today.
Amirudin said examples of eco-friendly technology facilities or products include the installation of solar panels to reduce dependency on the national grid, rainwater harvesting systems, household waste separation to facilitate recycling, electric vehicle charging units and food waste composting systems.
"We have already seen such a system successfully implemented in MBPJ, which received 2,313 applicants who were granted tax rebates totalling RM878,205.05," he said.
