KOTA KINABALU, Nov 30 (Bernama) -- Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) won 29 seats to emerge as the most successful party in the 17th Sabah State Election, said Election Commission (EC) chairman Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun.

He said Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) won the second-highest number of seats with 25, followed by Barisan Nasional (BN) with six seats and Independent candidates with five seats.

United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO) secured three seats, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR Sabah) won two, while Perikatan Nasional (PN), Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat (KDM) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) each obtained one seat.

A total of 1,148,476 people, or 64.35 per cent of registered voters, cast their ballots in the election, he told a press conference at the Sabah Federal Government Administrative Complex Auditorium here early this morning.

“That figure includes regular voters, early voters and postal voters,” he said.

He added that the complete state election results will be presented to Sabah Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Musa Aman at Istana Seri Kinabalu this morning.
