INDONESIA

1. CAMBODIA KEEN TO SOLVE MYANMAR CRISIS -- AGENCE KAMPUCHEA PRESSE

Cambodian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sok Chenda Sophea discussed with Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Myanmar Julie Bishop on Wednesday on the ongoing conflict. He expressed that pursuing dialogue with Myanmar’s leaders and engaging ASEAN members is vital to resolve the crisis.  

 

2. WORLD BANK’S US$80 MILLION FOR HIGHER EDUCATION -- FRESH NEWS 

The World Bank, through its funding arm International Development Association, will provide US$80 million to improve the quality of Cambodia’s higher education and research — focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. About 32,000 students, including 13,000 females, will benefit from the six-year project. 

 

VIETNAM

1. SPACEX TO TAP INTO VIETNAM’S SATELLITE MARKET -- VIETNAM.VN

US-based SpaceX plans to invest $15 billion in Vietnam to tap the country’s growing satellite internet market. The move will help the government to push its digital transformation agenda to provide universal internet services across the country.  

 

2. VIETNAM ECONOMIC GROWTH POSITIVE DESPITE TYPHOON - - VIETNAM NEWS AGENCY

The Asian Development Bank said Vietnam’s economy is on a positive trajectory with GDP growth at six per cent this year and 6.2 per cent next year. Steady recovery in industrial production and rebound in trade will spur growth.

1. ASEAN PREPARES FOR DEFENCE MINISTERS’ MEETING -- VIENTIANE NEWS

Ahead of the 18th ASEAN Defence Ministers Meeting next month, officials are debating to improve confidence building, mutual trust and cooperation to counter challenges. The dialogues will help to establish the ASEAN Security Community and the implementation of the Vientiane Action Programme.

 

2. US-LAOS ANTI HUMAN TRAFFICKING PROJECT CONTINUES -- VIENTIANE NEWS

The US will continue supporting Laos to combat human trafficking through prevention, protection and partnership. Both governments will partner to create economic opportunities for vulnerable people to curb trafficking and exploitation. The USAID Laos Counter Trafficking in Persons has been working on this project.

 

SINGAPORE

Commuters using the East-West Line faced a second day of disruption with train services still not available between Jurong East and Buona Vista MRT stations as at 8.30am on Sept 26, following a traction power fault that took place a day earlier.
