JAKARTA, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, accompanied by First Lady Emine, have arrived in Indonesia for a two-day official visit.
Erdogan’s flight landed at Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in East Jakarta at 6.30 pm local time on Tuesday, following his official visit to Malaysia.
He was welcomed by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who was present at the airport for the occasion.
The Turkish leader received a red carpet welcome and a guard of honour from the Indonesian Armed Forces.
A state ceremony to welcome Erdogan will be held at the Presidential Palace in Bogor on Wednesday.
In a statement ahead of his departure recently, Erdogan emphasised the significance of the visit, which coincides with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.
He also expressed hope that his trip would further strengthen ties with ASEAN, particularly with Indonesia, home to the ASEAN Secretariat, and Malaysia, the current ASEAN chair.
