SHAH ALAM, March 14 (Bernama) -- The Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) has contributed RM100,000 to the Damai Kuang Orphanage Welfare Association in Gombak as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives during Ramadan.

The donation was presented by PKNS Group Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Strategic Joint Ventures), Ir Md. Kamarzan Md. Rais, to the orphanage’s manager, Muhamad Syafiq Suhaimi, during a special iftar event here today.

According to PKNS, the contribution aims to support the operational needs of the orphanage and enhance the well-being of the children under its care.

Additionally, the PKNS Senior Officers’ Association (SOA) extended a separate contribution of RM2,500 to the orphanage.

A total of 59 orphans were also celebrated at the event, each receiving RM50 duit raya.

PKNS reaffirmed its commitment to social welfare, particularly in assisting orphans and underprivileged communities, through various initiatives during the holy month of Ramadan.

The iftar gathering also brought together 500 PKNS employees in a show of unity and community engagement.

PKNS has allocated RM166,100 for eight CSR programmes throughout Ramadan this year, including the Kasih Ramadan Raya Shopping initiative, iftar sessions with the homeless and strategic partners, congregational prayers and tasbih recitations, and the Kasih Ramadan Iftar.

A key highlight of the initiatives is a special donation presentation to the Damai Kuang Orphanage Welfare Association in Gombak, scheduled for March 22, which will be graced by the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
