SEPANG, March 16 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) aims to enhance its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programmes in the future as part of its commitment to initiatives that benefit the community.
Bernama Chief Executive Officer Datin Paduka Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin said these planned initiatives are part of efforts to strengthen education and sporting activities.
"Under the 'Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung' programme, Bernama has adopted Kampung Batu Laut as its foster village. Through the 'Santuni Madani' programme, we are focusing on education. Given our role in the media industry, we can assist children here (Kampung Batu Laut) in reading, which is our main focus.
"Insya-Allah, in the future, we will also introduce sports programmes and other initiatives. Since we have adopted Kampung Batu Laut, we are responsible for organising programmes that can benefit the residents, and that is what we are doing," she said.
She said this at the 2025 Bernama CSR programme at the Inayaturahman Mosque, Kampung Batu Laut in Tanjung Sepat here today.
This year's event, themed 'Indahnya Ramadan,' marks Bernama's third Ramadan CSR programme. The first edition took place at Bazaria Lembah Pantai in 2023, and the second was held at Dataran Putrajaya last year.
At the event, 21 orphans from Kampung Batu Laut received festive contributions to celebrate Hari Raya.
The programme received the backing of Bernama's strategic partners, including Rimbunan Kuasa Sdn Bhd, Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Maybank, Perbadanan Nasional Berhad (PERNAS), MTD Group, Maju Expressway Sdn Bhd (MEX) and the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS).
PERNAS acting chief executive officer, Tengku Mohamed Fadhli Tengku Hamzah, said such programmes allow the company to engage with the community.
"We have previously conducted several CSR activities with Bernama, and we will continue this collaboration in the future.
"PERNAS has always been active in supporting targeted groups, and Bernama’s programme aligns well with our long-standing objective of assisting these communities," he said.
Also present were Selangor Housing and Cultural Committee Chairman Datuk Borhan Aman Shah, who is also Tanjung Sepat assemblyman and Bernama Editor-in-Chief Arul Rajoo Durar Raj.
Others present were Deputy Editor-in-Chief (News Services) Nasriah Darus, Deputy Editor-in-Chief (Economic News Services) Azlina Aziz and Kampung Batu Laut Village Chief Subandi Sangadi.
