SEREMBAN, March 21 (Bernama) -- The opening of additional lanes on the Seremban-Kuala Pilah Federal Road is set to benefit over 30,000 daily users and local residents, said Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He said the upgrade, which involved expanding the road from a two-lane dual carriageway to a four-lane dual carriageway, aims to ease traffic congestion at a one-kilometre bottleneck near the Taman Nusa Intan junction here.
“It also enhances road safety and comfort, as this area has been prone to accidents. Additionally, the project addresses flash flood issues through an improved drainage and sewerage system.
“This project commenced on Dec 20, 2021, and was implemented using an internal conventional method at a contract value of RM18.16 million,” he told reporters after officiating the opening of the additional lanes here today.
The project scope included upgrading the Taman Nusa Intan and Bukit Putus Lama junctions, drainage and sewerage works, realignment of Sungai Linggi and installation of road furniture as well as street and traffic lights.
Nanta said the project also introduced a Motorcycle Waiting Zone at the Taman Nusa Intan and Jalan Bukit Putus Lama junctions, the first in Seremban, to enhance motorcyclist safety.
“With this designated space, motorcyclists now have a specific waiting area in front of other vehicles at traffic lights, reducing accident risks and improving traffic flow at main intersections,” he said.
Meanwhile, he said the Works Ministry had inspected the construction progress of the Nilai-Labu-Bandar Enstek new road under the Malaysia Vision Valley development.
The 16.3km four-lane dual carriageway, set for completion in July 2026, involves an investment exceeding RM200 million.
“This project will spur economic growth in the state by creating job opportunities, attracting foreign investments, and boosting property values, infrastructure, tourism, and industrial development,” he said.
Separately, Nanta said slope repair works on the landslide-affected section of Jalan Paroi-Senawang are expected to be completed in June at a cost of RM424,000.
“I urge road users to be patient, remain cautious and follow all safety instructions,” he said.
