KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) -- Great Eastern Takaful Berhad reinforces its commitment to helping those in need and giving back to the community through GET-Care, one of its corporate social responsibility pillars, during the holy month of Ramadan.
This year, the company organised two initiatives, namely the GET-Sahur Programme 2025 and the GREAT Ramadan Programme 2025, to honour frontliners and assist underprivileged children.
Great Eastern Takaful Berhad chief executive officer Shahrul Azlan Shahriman, in a statement today, said the company is deeply committed to making a difference in the lives of those in need.
“Ramadan is a time for reflection, generosity and togetherness, and through GET-Care, we aim to extend our support to frontliners and underprivileged communities.
“Seeing the smiles on the children’s faces and knowing we have shown appreciation to our frontliners reinforces our purpose of serving with heart and empathy. We hope to continue inspiring and uplifting lives through meaningful initiatives like these,” he said.
Through the GET-Sahur Programme 2025, Great Eastern Takaful extended its gratitude to Malaysia’s frontline heroes by distributing 100 packed sahur meals to five designated locations, namely Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Institut Jantung Negara, Balai Bomba Keramat, IPD Wangsa Maju and IPD Dang Wangi.
The initiative, which involved Great Eastern Takaful employee volunteers, aimed to uplift and acknowledge the frontliners’ dedication, ensuring they feel appreciated as they carry out their duties.
Great Eastern Takaful Berhad Marketing head Rashida Mior Ahmad Darwish said GET-Sahur is a small but meaningful gesture to express gratitude to those serving the nation.
“Our frontliners have definitely shown unwavering dedication in serving the nation, and it is only right that we extend our appreciation for their sacrifices. GET-Sahur initiative reflects our commitment in giving back to the community and ensuring those who protect and care for us feel valued,” she said.
According to the statement, Great Eastern Takaful once again organised the GREAT Ramadan Programme, where nearly 90 orphans and asnaf from Pusat Jagaan Kasih Murni and Rumah Kasih Nurul Hasanah enjoyed a special Hari Raya shopping experience at Mydin Wholesale Hypermarket.
Accompanied by 33 dedicated employee volunteers, the children picked out their Raya outfits and essentials, ensuring they could celebrate the upcoming festivities with joy and confidence.
Additionally, Great Eastern Takaful hosted a Grand Iftar at Temu Jelatek, bringing together orphans and young cancer patients from Kumpulan Ibu Bapa dan Sokongan Anak-Anak Kanser (KIDS) in a warm and uplifting gathering.
The evening fostered unity and hope as the children shared meals and stories, reinforcing the importance of compassion and support for those facing life challenges.
“As part of its GET-Care pillar, Great Eastern Takaful remains dedicated to fostering a culture of care and social responsibility.
“Through continuous efforts, the company strives to create long-term positive impacts on communities, ensuring that the values of protection, kindness, and giving are upheld throughout its journey,” the statement said.
