1.CLASHES ERUPT AS STUDENTS PROTEST MILITARY LAW IN MULTIPLE CITIES -- JAKARTA GLOBE

Protests against Indonesia’s newly revised military law erupted into violent clashes between students and security forces in several cities on Monday, leaving multiple people injured and dozens detained. The demonstrations, which took place in Sukabumi, Surabaya, Palangka Raya, Lumajang, and Malang, saw students opposing the expanded role of active-duty military officers in civilian positions.

 

2.DANANTARA SEEKS CREDIBILITY WITH STAR-STUDDED BOARD -- THE JAKARTA POST

Danantara Indonesia, the country’s newly established sovereign wealth fund (SWF), has unveiled a leadership lineup featuring hedge fund titan Ray Dalio, economist Jeffrey Sachs and former Thai prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. The board also includes current or former executives from the World Bank, state-owned Bank Mandiri and the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), the nation’s other SWF.

1.COMBATING GRAFT AT PROVINCIAL LEVEL -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

Authorities in Attapeu province in southern Laos have launched an operation to nab corrupt officials after discovering RM11 million (US$2.5 million) in losses. According to the ongoing probe, 21 provincial officials and business owners involved in corruption related to a road upgrading project were detained.

 

2.EUROPEAN EDUCATION SUPPORT FOR MARGINALISED KIDS ENDS -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

The European Union-funded Sowing the Seeds of Inclusive Education project ends its campaign to enhance educational opportunities for children with developmental disabilities in Laos. The organisation has successfully implemented its projects in 20 villages in Huaphan and Champassak provinces for several decades.

1.ROLLING OUT GROWTH-CENTRIC NATIONAL BUDGET -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Myanmar’s leader Senior General Min Aung Hlaing announced that the defence, education, health and home affairs sectors will receive more allocations under the 2025-2026 budget. More state funds will be channelled to develop roads, bridges and electricity supply to spur economic growth.

 

2.PEACE FORUM DELEGATES DEBATE TO END CONFLICTS -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

The three-day Peace Talk 2025 themed “From Peace Talks to the New Peaceful Nation” began in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday. Prominent figures, scholars and experts are debating to end internal conflicts and improve political and economic conditions in the country.

People’s Party leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut launched the no-confidence debate in Parliament on Monday by stating that the opposition could not trust a government based on political deal-making, saying it had failed to strengthen democracy or stimulate the economy.
