KUCHING, March 28 (Bernama) -- Sarawak, as a co-host of the 2027 SEA Games, will stage a total of 18 sports.
State Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said this decision came after a recent meeting with Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) officials to finalise the sports hosted in Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia.
“More or less, we have agreed on 18 sports to be held here (in Sarawak) and 18 sports to be held in West Malaysia.
“Among the sports that will be held in Sarawak are tenpin bowling, swimming, diving, cricket, taekwondo, archery and also shooting,” he told a press conference here today.
Abdul Karim said Sarawak is also negotiating to host gymnastics after being informed that the Malaysian Gymnastics Federation has requested the event to be held in Kuching.
“They want it (gymnastics) to be here after seeing how we organised it during the SUKMA games last year,” he added.
