KUALA LUMPUR, April 15 (Bernama) -- National women's squash player Rachel Arnold failed to advance to the quarterfinals of the 2025 El Gouna International Squash Open in Egypt after losing to world number four Olivia Weaver from the United States early this morning.
In the second round match held at the El Gouna Conference and Culture Centre, world number 20 Rachel was unable to match her opponent’s game, going down 7-11, 4-11, 4-11 in just 24 minutes.
This marks Rachel’s fourth defeat to Weaver in their four encounters.
Weaver will next face Belgium’s Tinne Gilis in the quarterfinals after the latter defeated New Zealand’s Joelle King.
On Sunday, Malaysia’s top female squash player S. Sivasangari also exited the tournament in the second round after losing to Egypt’s Salma Hany.
The platinum-level tournament offers a total prize purse of USD435,000 (approximately RM1.92 million) for both men's and women's categories.
