RIYADH, April 16 (Bernama-SPA) -- Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has extended his condolences to His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, on the passing of former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
In a message conveyed through a cable, King Salman expressed his sincere condolences to the King, the bereaved family, and the people of Malaysia. He also wished His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim continued good health.
Meanwhile, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Saudi Arabia, sent a separate cable of condolences to Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
In his message, the Crown Prince conveyed his heartfelt sympathy to the Prime Minister and the family of the late Tun Abdullah, and also wished Anwar continued good health.
Tun Abdullah was laid to rest with full state funeral honours at the Heroes’ Mausoleum at Masjid Negara at about 2.30 pm local time on Tuesday.
Tun Abdullah breathed his last at the National Heart Institute (IJN) at 7.10 pm on Monday. He was 85.
The IJN said in a statement that the statesman was admitted to hospital on Sunday after experiencing breathing difficulties.
