KUALA LUMPUR, April 17 (Bernama) -- Cycling enthusiasts in the country can expect something different when the OCBC Cycle Kuala Lumpur is held in the heart of the city on April 27.

OCBC Al-Amin Bank Berhad chief executive officer Syed Abdull Aziz Syed Kechik said this year's edition is set to have two new categories - the 50-kilometre (km) and 25km rides - while the age group for the children's category will now be from three to nine (previously aged three to seven).

Syed Abdull Aziz said that a 50km corporate category, called the KL Mayor Ride, will also be held for teams comprising 10 riders each.

"OCBC Cycle KL 2025 will also have more challenging routes, with an additional eight kilometres (km) this year compared to the 42km in previous editions.

"About 3,000 riders will take part in this annual cycling event this time, compared to about 2,500 participants last year,” he said at the OCBC Cycle Kuala Lumpur media conference at Decathlon Kuala Lumpur City Centre here today.

For this year's edition, the event also offers three types of bicycles as prizes for the men's and women's adult categories (mountain bike, road bike and foldable bike) and all participants will also receive a medal, digital participation certificate and souvenir each.

OCBC Cycle Kuala Lumpur is one of the country's biggest mass cycling events and continues to get a good response from the public, including children, senior citizens and recreational sports enthusiasts.
