ISTANBUL, April 21 (Bernama-AA) -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday proposed a 30-day halt to strikes on civilian infrastructure, offering a potential extension if a full ceasefire is observed, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.
“Ukraine proposes to cease any strikes using long-range drones and missiles on civilian infrastructure for a period of at least 30 days, with the possibility of extension,” he said in a statement on X.
The proposal came in response to a 30-hour unilateral Easter ceasefire declared by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday.
Zelenskyy said Ukraine would reciprocate Russia’s declared pause and called for its extension “if a complete ceasefire truly takes hold.”
The ceasefire, which began at 6 pm Moscow time on Saturday, is expected to last until midnight Monday. However, both sides have accused each other of violating the truce.
