KUALA LUMPUR, April 21 (Bernama) -- Cahya Mata Sarawak Bhd’s 51 per cent owned subsidiary, CMS Land Sdn Bhd, has won a RM550 million design and build contract from the Sarawak state government to develop the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching II at Muara Tebas District, Kuching, Sarawak.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia today, Cahya Mata said the contract is inclusive of the design and construction of the entire project, encompassing the foundation, substructure, superstructure, building works, mechanical and electrical services, fit-out works, testing and commissioning.

“The project shall commence in April 2025 and be completed in the first quarter (1Q) of 2028. The design and build contract is expected to be entered into in 2Q 2025,” it said.

Cahya Mata said the foreseeable headwinds for the project are likely to be supply-chain-related due to global trade uncertainties.

However, the company said it is well-positioned to address such issues due to the synergies provided by its key subsidiaries, such as Cahya Mata Cement, its concrete business, and lastly, its construction materials and trading arm.
