PETALING JAYA, April 25 (Bernama) -- The 10th edition of the Malaysia Top E-commerce Merchant (Top ECM) Awards achieved phenomenal sales of RM158 million, lifting the programme’s cumulative gross merchandise value to over RM500 million since its launch in 2016.

Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said this year’s edition drew 1,060 applications from merchants spanning sectors such as fashion, beauty, food and beverage, home living, appliances and baby products.

“From these, 511 merchants were shortlisted and immersed in an enriching journey from advanced training sessions in data analytics, livestream optimisation and creator training, to site visits with Dattel Asia and Business Synergy, gaining hands-on exposure to retail technologies and consumer insights,” he said at the Malaysia Top ECM Awards 2025 and SIDEC Hari Raya celebration here today.

He added that the newly introduced Livestream Battle, held in collaboration with TikTok Shop, featured 46 livestream sessions by 40 merchants, running for 132 hours over five days, a powerful testament to the rise of real-time commerce and the creativity of local entrepreneurs.

A total of 24 merchants were recognised across various categories, including the TikTok Special Category, the SIDEC Rising Star Award, the Women Trailblazer Award, and Selangor’s own category winners, sharing a combined prize pool of RM250,000.

Also present were the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) chief executive officer, Yong Kai Ping, and Selangor State executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility, Ng Sze Han.

Amirudin reaffirmed Selangor’s commitment to building an inclusive digital economy through initiatives such as the Selangor Accelerator Programme (SAP), Selangor 1000 Digital, and ongoing efforts to strengthen Malaysia’s semiconductor and innovation ecosystem.

“Our goal is clear, to ensure that every business — no matter its size — has access to the tools, support and opportunities needed to thrive in today’s dynamic digital world,” he said.

Amirudin praised the finalists as key drivers of Malaysia’s e-commerce future and called for unity in building a dynamic, inclusive and future-ready digital ecosystem.

Top ECM recognises the most successful, creative and innovative homegrown e-commerce merchants, offering them greater visibility and opportunities to strengthen their brand presence across the industry.
