NEW DELHI, April 26 (Bernama) -- An Indian Air Force (IAF) plane inadvertently dropped a tank on a house in central India on Friday, badly damaging the property, but the family living in it escaped unhurt.

Two rooms in the house were destroyed, and debris fell on a car parked nearby, local media reported. The incident took place in Pichhore town in Madhya Pradesh state's Shivpuri district.

"The IAF regrets the damage caused today to the property on the ground, near Shivpuri, by the inadvertent drop of a non-explosive aerial store from an IAF aircraft, and has instituted an inquiry into the incident," the air force said in a statement on X on Friday.

The house belonged to a teacher named Manoj Sagar, who was eating with his children, and his wife was in the kitchen when they heard a loud explosion, news agency PTI reported, citing local officials.

The object created an 8 to 10-foot deep crater.
