KUANTAN, April 28 (Bernama) -- The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah expressed his desire to establish the Pahang State Jawi Reference Centre as the core of education, reference and preservation of Jawi writing.

According to the Pahang Sultanate's Facebook page today, Al-Sultan Abdullah suggested the Pahang Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MUIP) to establish a specific body or institution to officially implement Jawi courses, training and commissioning.

In the post, the Sultan also urged all relevant parties to commit to the suggestion because the Jawi script is a great Malay heritage and a symbol of Islamic civilization that needs to be preserved.

"This Jawi agenda cannot be considered as a mere insertion or complement, but must be made an important component in building a civilised and independent state," said the Sultan in the post.

According to the post, the Sultan of Pahang said this before leaving for the 194th MUIP Meeting today.

Tengku Panglima Raja Brigadier General Tengku Amir Nasser Ibrahim Shah who is the Deputy Yang Dipertuan of MUIP, also headed for the same meeting.
