KANGAR, May 2 (Bernama) -- Aiman Ridhwan Mohamad Ramlan from Perak emerged as the winner in the qari (male reciter) category of the National Level Al-Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly for the year 1446H/2025, while Wan Sofea Aini Wan Mohd Zahidi from Terengganu took first place in the qariah (female reciter) category.
Both winners received RM20,000 in cash, an additional RM10,000 to perform the haj, along with a trophy, souvenirs and a certificate of participation.
They also received one gold dinar each from the Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (YAPEIM) and a smartphone sponsored by the Perlis state government and bestowed by the Raja of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail, and the Raja Perempuan of Perlis, Tuanku Tengku Fauziah Almarhum Tengku Abdul Rashid.
In the 30-juz memorisation with interpretation category, Perak's Muhammad Adib Ahmad Rozaini and Kelantan's Putri Auni Khadijah Mohd Hanif claimed top honours for the male and female divisions, respectively.
Selangor dominated the 20-juz memorisation category through Muhammad Imran Hussin and Siti Khadijah Anuar.
Sabah's Mohamad Khayruddin Zakwan Jaimis and Selangor's Shashahani Irdina Shamsul Rizal triumphed in the 10-juz memorisation with tarannum category for male and female contestants respectively.
Kedah emerged as the overall champion of the national event.
Also gracing the closing ceremony at Dewan 2020 were Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, and Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil.
The winners were announced by Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) director-general Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee, with Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar also in attendance.
