JAKARTA, May 3 (Bernama) -- The Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Digital has blocked over 1.3 million online gambling-related contents, including 1.19 million gambling websites and 127,000 social media posts over six months.
These actions, undertaken from Oct 20, 2024, to April 23, 2025, are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen oversight and enforce digital laws in collaboration with the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK).
“These figures reflect a real threat in the digital space that disrupts national security and public order,” Communication and Digital Minister Meutya Hafid stated in a statement Saturday (May 3).
As part of its strategy, the ministry has launched the Content Moderation Compliance System (SAMAN), which requires digital platforms to act on high-risk content within four hours and other harmful content within 24 hours.
The government has also introduced a new regulation, Child Protection in the Digital Space (PP Tunas), aimed at strengthening child protection in the digital space.
“The development of a safe and healthy digital space is a shared responsibility among all sectors of society,” Meutya added.
