NEW DELHI, May 7 (Bernama) -- International and domestic airline services in South Asia have been disrupted following the ongoing hostilities between India and Pakistan.

Civil flights at Srinagar airport in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir were suspended, while Pakistan shut its airspace for 48 hours.

Indian carriers on Wednesday announced their services were affected at a number of airports in northern and western India due to airspace restrictions.

These locations include Jammu, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Bikaner, Jamnagar, Chandigarh and Rajkot.

School closures were also announced in Pakistan's Punjab province as well as in India's border regions.

Tensions between the two neighbours, which have been rising since last month, escalated early Wednesday amid reports of cross-border airstrikes.
